Try Hockey for Free is our front door into the game — and we've built it for the families closest to home.
If your child attends school in the DC Everest district, they're exactly who this event is for.
Live in a nearby district that doesn't offer its own youth hockey program? You're welcome on the ice with us, too.
We especially encourage DC Everest athletes to come give hockey a try — this is your team, and your rink.
Our coaches and high-school player mentors run a fun, low-pressure hour built entirely around new skaters having a blast.
Games, skating basics, and first shots on net through fun, station-based coaching.
Helmet, skates, stick, and pads provided and fitted on-site. Just bring warm socks.
First time on skates or already gliding — every kid starts where they are and has fun.

Plan for about two hours from arrival to the parking lot. Here's the flow.
Arrive 30–45 minutes early. Our volunteers fit skates, a helmet, and pads for every skater.
45–60 minutes of skating games, coaching stations, and first shots — with mentors right alongside.
Meet our coaches and learn how Intro to Hockey keeps the fun going all winter.

Had a blast on the ice? Intro to Hockey runs December–March with two practices a week — also free, with equipment provided. It's the natural next step from your first skate.
Here's the important part: Try Hockey for Free and Intro to Hockey are for everyone. Girls skate right alongside the boys from the very first practice — same coaches, same ice, same fun. Neither program is boys-only, and no one gets left on the bench.
And as your daughter falls for the game, Storm Girls Hockey gives her a dedicated, all-girls team to grow with — from our youngest skaters through 14U — competing in tournaments and jamborees, with coaching built around her development and the same resources as every EYH program.
Try Hockey for Free is your family's first step into Everest Youth Hockey — a community of skaters that grows from first-timers all the way to our Storm competitive teams.
